As part of efforts to promote Monaco overseas, the Embassy of Monaco in China organised the first ever “Monaco Week” in Shanghai from 26-28 June, together with the Bluinc Media group and the Shanghai Yacht Club. Three days were completely dedicated to the Principality, during which representatives from the Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority, the Prince Albert II Foundation, and the Economic Development Chamber were given the opportunity to present their role and to promote Monaco from a perspective within their own field to various Chinese media outlets and the invited High Wealth Network Individuals.

The first day was devoted to the promotion of Monaco as a tourist destination, which was fully covered by the Tourist and Convention Authority as well as by their partner hotels who were present – SBM, Fairmont and Métropole. These presentations were aimed at the media and Chinese tourism professionals. The second day concentrated on the Prince Albert II Foundation, and more precisely on two projects which it is involved in: the “Formula E” race which will take place for the first time in Beijing on 13 September 2015, and “Solar Impulse”. The EDC then presented Monaco’s economic makeup and the investment opportunities to be found there. The Monegasque companies DIVA and ROSEMONT also shared their experience and laid out the advantages of setting up business in Monaco.

For the first time, a full day was dedicated to the promotion of Monaco as a yachting destination. The Monaco Yacht Show got twelve members of the Super Yacht Business Association (SYBASS), including the biggest names in shipbuilding, to participate. The aim of this seminar was to promote Monaco’s lifestyle as part of luxury yachting. As part of this, the recently-inaugurated, newly-built Monaco Yacht Club was shown off to invited members of the Shanghai Yacht Club.

The three days finished with “Monaco Night 2014”, a prestigious gala dinner which brought together 150 VIP guests, potential investors and Chinese celebrities.

A meeting has already been scheduled to plan “China Night” which will take place in Monaco during the Monaco Yacht Show in September, and to organise the next “Monaco Week” in Shanghai in 2015.
